Combine fabric, ribbons, and other familiar materials any way you like to create a one-of-a-kind character!
What kind of finger puppet you end up with is up to you.
And you can enjoy the world of stories at home with the finger puppet you made.
Before the workshop, there will also be a picture book read-aloud session by Mafumi Kato.

Capacity: 12 children (advance registration required; first come, first served)
Eligibility: Elementary school students and up
What to bring: Scissors, something to write with, (optional) colored pencils, (optional) favorite ribbons or anything you’d like to add to your finger puppet
Fee (materials): 500 yen per person (cash only; please pay at reception on the day)

Instructor: Mafumi Kato
Picture book author. Finger puppet artist.
Born in Fukui Prefecture. Graduated from Hokkaido University of Education.
Her books include “Gyoza no Hi” (Kaiseisha), “Nori no Noriko-san,” “Keshigomu no Gomuta to Gomuzo,” “Origami no Shiro-chan” (BL Publishing), “Manmaru Ike no Otsukimi,” “Nekokichi no Tenugui” (Kodansha), “Shamojiisan,” “Nukadokosuke!,” “Misoko-chan” (Akane Shobo), “Maachan to Risu no Fuyujitaku” (Alice-kan), “Katatsumuri-kun” (Futo-sha), “Omochi no Kamisama,” “Yotsuba no Ohanashi” (Kosei Publishing), “Otousan no Kowai Hanashi” (Iwasaki Shoten), “Seiro-san” (WAVE Publishing), and more. She has also illustrated picture books including the “Doronron Byoin” series (written by Sumiko Karita, Kinnohoshi).

Seating is provided for children only.

*Accompanying adults are welcome to browse the facility freely from 10:00 to 11:30.

・After applying, please come to “Children’s Book Forest Sapporo / Hokkaido University” when it’s time on the day. Let the staff know you “have an event reservation” to make check-in smoother.
